In the youth of the year, spring ushers in a brilliant green. It invigorates and thrills us all. This green heralds a season of rapid growth and speaks to a productivity that is much like our own time in this flesh body. The first greening of the year is brilliant with energy.
The year sustains that growth until hues soften, fruit sweetly ripens, leaves deepen and when growth has reached a maturity, harvest comes. The ground is warm and brown and with the gathering of all that growth has given, the world celebrates what seems to be a completion.
While harvest may speak to a culmination of this season of productivity and the harvest table honors what has been, there is a subtle base of energy that is ready to rise and speaks to what is yet to come. It is mature and deep and awaits the first fall rains. This is the second greening. This green is mossy, subtle and sustaining. Soft on the eyes and gentle to the heart, the second greening reveals more about the core of life. Not a flash of light but a deep hue, proven by time and as sure as the universe.
The second greening holds long. It speaks of a great truth for all of us in this amazing community. We who have come to the fall of our life's years have come to share the depth of our green. Our harvest season has not diminished us and we will continue to reveal the core of our life, our energy and our gifts. Our fall is just the beginning of our second greening and it is magnificent.
